You must consider your choice based on intellect and not emotion. While it may be somewhat time consuming you should do your "homework" and consider exactly what the issues are and what the candidates support.
Since the media, including so-called social media, is significantly biased it is best to ignore their stories and messaging.
If at all possible attend any function where a candidate is speaking so you have the opportunity to ask questions or at least hear first hand what they say.
With candidates for president most people don't have the opportunity to attend a "rally" in person so it is necessary to watch debates, live coverage, and importantly, look at the candidate's background to assess their leadership skills

A candidate should have some experience leading an organization. Without that background it is challenging to assess the ability of a person to lead.
In some cases, as in local government for certain positions, it may not be that important.
However, for the president, governor or mayor, leadership is absolutely critical. You must consider what the person will do especially in times of crisis such as major storms, environmental disasters, and especially conflicts that could lead to war.

The future of the United States is going to be dictated, in great part, by the outcome of the 2024 election.
Common sense dictates the two main candidates, Harris/Walz and Trump/Vance will vie for the presidency. The remaining individuals could, however, prove to be a spoiler.
So, as a matter of practicality we will focus on the two leading candidates including the vice-presidential selections.
True leadership is critical for the future of the United States. Regardless of your party affiliation or ideology, future presidents and members of congress MUST understand and practice leadership, not just politics! Only then, will there be a chance for the United States to avoid the same outcome as that of the Roman Empire.
Presidential candidates MUST be 35 years old by law but there is no test for the office. Members of Congress may be younger but our position is that candidates must take the well-known Wonderlic test and reveal their score. Further, they must have demonstrated leadership experience.
This is similar to asking candidates to reveal their tax returns. Only the age is law. There is no law that mandates a test or any experience in leadership. Look at the following list of the characteristics of leadership. Consider these as you decide your preference on a candidate for office.
The Wonderlic test essentially measures a person's ability to think clearly in typical situations of life. For example, a teacher has 80 students in her class. 14 are going to attend the same college, 6 will go to another college. The rest are undecided. What percent of the class is undecided? 50%, 75%, 60% 25%. The test is also timed making it somewhat challenging.
The Wonderlic test is used extensively in business. However, to illustrate, it is best known as a test given to professional football players. Some score very high, such as Ryan Fitzpatrick, a Harvard grad who scored a 48. Tom Brady, by contrast scored a 33 but well above average. Other scores:
49 Mike Mamula (defensive end)
48 Kevin Curtis (Wide Receiver)
48 Ben Watson (tight end)
In addition to the foregoing, another high scorer is Aaron Rodgers with a 35, exactly where he would need to be in meeting the three criteria for being president.
We noted the Roman Empire in remarks above. The collapse of the empire has been thought to be the result of attacks from outside. That is certainly true, in part, but much was due to the deterioration of Roman society as a whole. It is this notion that is of great concern for the United States. It must not happen!
A great dilemma in the U.S. today is the lack of inertia by the average citizen who feels they want to do something but don't know exactly what to do. A true feeling of helplessness!

Ask them to read the information and, similarly, send it on to their contacts. It is essentially that simple. But, we must break the inertia caused by a willingness to just accept what is happening.
If you go to a campaign event ask the candidate what their experience is in leadership. Ask what books on leadership they have read.
These are very legitimate and important questions. Of course the issues are always on everyone's mind but sometimes we forget that the person seeking office needs to be capable of dealing with them, not just agreeing they are important.
When forwarding your message to others you can add your own thoughts on leadership.
Remember, this is a non-political effort. Regardless of the party, the party must decide on a candidate with demonstrated leadership skills. (Note: Most senators or representatives do not qualify unless they have previously held positions of leadership. Political "experience" does NOT count.)
Of course, there are many others but these few individuals represent some of the very best:
Angela Ahrendts
Geno Auriemma
Bill Belicheck
Warren Buffett
Benno Dorer
Tulsi Gabbard
Melinda Gates
Nikki Haley
Bobby Jindal
Kevin Johnson
Darla Moore
Maya Moore
Hunter Renfrow
Condoleezza Rice
Gregory L. Robinson
Brad Smith
Jeff Weiner
NB: This list is not to suggest a recommendation for any of the above individuals who may seek political office. It is intended to recognize outstanding leadership by each for what they have accomplished.
One of the most outstanding players at Clemson University. Originally a walk-on, Hunter Renfrow earned a scholarship through his dedication, perserverence, and hard work. Known for his winnng catch in 2016 against Alabama for the national championship he went on to win the Burlsworth Trophy as college football's most outstanding player who began his career as a walk-on and the Bobby Bowden Award Division I player who epitomizes dedication to faith, family, friends and football. Voted a permanent team captain, Hunter is the consummate example of a leader. Today he is a wide-receiver with the Oakland Raiders.
Maya Moore is one of the most outstanding women of the 21st century. Her accomplishments in basketball are literally too much to list here individually but suffice it to say, she is a multiple times NCAA champion, WNBA champion and Olympian. Perhaps most significant, however, is her leadership in criminal justice when she worked to prove an inmate innocent of a crime he did not commit. A superb example of determination, dedication, courage, and doing the right thing. You are encouraged to see additional information on Maya and her commitment to faith and the pursuit of justice.
Most people are now aware of the recent launch of the Webb Telescope and the amazing photos being sent back to earth. Were it not for the outstanding leadership of Gregory L. Robinson, NASA Engineer and Director of the Webb program, it is unlikely this endeavor would have succeeded. With a team of 10,000 and a $10 billion dollar budget, the Webb project was going off the rails when Mr. Robinson stepped in and virtually single handedly, brought it back together. His manager calls him "the most effective leader of a mission I have ever seen in the history of NASA." (WSJ). With his extraordinary skills in leadership Mr. Robinson, and his 10,000 person team, made Webb happen. Another example of those who lead, often in unassuming ways, yet represent true leadership.
